A HISTORY RICH WITH TRADITION,
enhanced with innovation
At the age of 47 Kurt Arthur Lippmann started Hi-Grade Sausage Company but his story starts over 30 years earlier in Dresden, Germany.  This is where he had his first schooling, learning quickly the techniques that would serve him so well the rest of his life. By the late 1920's he had immigrated to the United States landing in the Intermountain West.  He worked throughout Utah and Idaho, early on at Cudahy Packing Co. and then several years more with Wirthlin's in Salt Lake City.  In 1953, with many years of saving and with the help of family and friends, he began building his dream.  He opened Hi-Grade in early 1955.  His sausages quickly became a favorite and word spread. For over forty years he cultivated the business and his employees with a strong and loving hand.  Since his passing in 1996 we have strived to uphold his spirit and values by carrying on his tradition of delivering a mouth-watering array of fresh sausages, hot dogs, hams, many specialty sausages, and other fine meats.
